House of Zwide is a South African TV drama series introduced to our TV screens on 19 July 2021. It plays on e-TV and is co-produced by the Bomb Shelter and video vision entertainment. The House of Zwide cast keeps audiences glued to their screens and make it one of the most-watched shows in Mzansi, with a total of 4 million daily views.

The show’s storyline focuses on 2 powerful families, The Molapos and the Zwides. Each family lives in different parts of Mzansi and leads different lifestyles.

The Molapos from House of Zwide

The Molapos stay in the more local area in Tembisa, where everyone is hustling and trying to make a living. In contrast, the Zwides live in the suburban area of Rosebank, living lavish lifestyle, AKA the ‘soft life’.

Funani and Faith Zwide are a successful family in a fast-growing fashion empire in the country. The Zwide’s have a dark side. Faith had an affair with Funani, murdered his wife and burned down their house. She then married him and started a family. She is responsible for Ona growing up with a family that aren’t her biological parents when she knows very well that Funani is Ona’s biological father.

Vusi Kunene

Vusi Kunene plays the character of Funani Zwide, one of the main House of Zwide cast members. Funani is the owner and founder of South Africa’s biggest fashion house.

Vusi Kunene was born on 12 April 1966 in Meadowlands, North of Soweto, in Jo’burg. He is 56 years of age. Vusi holds a qualification in Dramatic Arts, which he obtained at the WITS School of Drama. Outside House of Zwide, he plays Jack Mabaso in Generations. 

Other acting roles include Yizo Yizo, Justice For All, Soul City and Isibaya. He takes home between R150 000-R200 000 per month.

Jeffrey Sekele

Jeffrey is part of the main cast and plays the character of Isaac Molapo. His character portrays a gangster who helped his ex-girlfriend, Faith Zwide, murder Funani’s wife and steal his daughter Onalerona after they burnt down their house. 

In the show, Isaac is married to Rea Molapo, Keletso’s mother. Jeffrey Sekele is 49 years of age and was born on 20 August 1973. He was born in Leeufontein, Limpopo, and is a graduate of Technikon, Pretoria.

His career took off in 1999, and he has since appeared in Telenovelas such as Isidingo, Zero Tolerance, Behind the Badge, Task force, The lab and Isibaya. He has also appeared on Muvhango, Soul Buddy’s, Jacob’s Cross, Endgame, Gaz’lam, Strike back and Unsung Heroes. He also had a movie role in Jerusalem. 

Jeffrey is fluent in various languages, including; Zulu, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, and English.

Bawinile ‘Winnie’ Ntshaba

Winnie is part of the main House of Zwide cast and plays the role of Faith Zwide, who is married to Funani. They run a successful fashion empire called House of Zwide, which she co-owns with Funani. 

Winnie is 47 years of age and holds an Honors degree in BA Drama, which she obtained from the University of Natal. She was also a member of the North West Arts Council. 

After moving to Joburg, she earned a supporting role in the film ‘Yesterday ‘. She has also starred in The Road but is known best for her role as Khetiwe Buthelezi in Generations.

Khaya Dladla

Khaya is part of the main House of Zwide cast, playing the role of Lazarus. Lazarus is Funani’s friend and is responsible for creating designs and interpretations for the House of Zwide. Khaya became widely known for his role in Uzalo. 

He was born on 3 April 1990 in Umlazi, making him 32 years of age. Khaya joined theatre at the young and tender age of 9, has qualifications in marketing and media and has made appearances on TV shows such as Zaziwa and Bet talk show. 

He has also been a backup vocalist for well-known musicians, such as Thandiswa Mazwai and Hugh Masekela. Khaya earns an estimated R50 000 per month.

Nefisa Mkhabela

Nefisa is another key House of Zwide cast member who plays the role of Onalerona Molapo. Onalerona is an intern at House of Zwide and an aspiring designer committed to learning all there is to learn in the industry. 

She starts to uncover deep, dark secrets along the way. She discovers that Funani is her biological father, which is shocking, to say the least. 

Nefisa is 20 years of age and has appeared on shows such as Unmarried and the Mzansi Magic movie Ispaza Sasekhaya.

Shalate Sekhabi

Shalate is part of the main House of Zwide cast and portrays the role of Bathongo Shoki. Her character is in a relationship with Funani’s son and is also friends with Onalerona. 

She was born on 27 July 2000 in Mahikeng, North West, which makes her 22 years of age. She has also made an appearance on The River. 

Matshepo Maleme

Matshepo plays the role of Rea Molapo. She is married to Isaac. Matshepo was born on 23 August 1980 in Free State, which makes her 42 years of age. She has also made an appearance on Muvhango. She also Zandi in SABC 1 drama series Bubomi Sana and Bakang in After Nine.

Wanda Zuma

Wanda plays the role of Nkosi Zwide, the son of Funani. He sees himself as a family heir and has visions of taking over the family empire, but he needs to gain the design skills to do so. 

Wanda was born on 7 September 1991 in Durban, which makes him 31 years of age. He studies performing Arts at a Creative Arts College. Wanda makes R45000 – R60000 per month.

Lwazi Mthembu

Lwazi plays the role of Nomsa. Nomsa plays a motherly role to her sister, Bathong Shoki, since the passing of their grandmother. Lwazi was born on 11 July 1991, which makes her 31 years of age. She has a degree in Performing Arts from Wits University.

Londeka Mchunu

Londeka plays the role of Zanele Zwide, daughter of Funani and Faith. She works hard to prove her place and importance in the family business, therefore taking on the responsibility of becoming a social media influencer. 

Londeka was born on 10 July 1994. She is 28 years old and studied Corporate Communications at Varsity College.

Paballo Mavundla

Paballo plays the role of Sandile. Sandile had a brief relationship with Onalerona. Paballo was born on 11 June 1999, which makes him 23 years of age. He graduated from the National School of the Arts and has appeared in The Herd and Generations The Legacy.

Motlatsi Mafatshe

Motlatsi plays the role of uncle Molefe. At 39 years of age, he has appeared on shows such as Isidingo, Shooting Star, Scandal, and Backstage, to name a few. He appeared in Netflix hit series, How to ruin Christmas and is also a singer.

Sikelelwa Vuyeleni

Sikelwa plays the role of Nambitha. She is 24 years old and was born on 26 August 1998. Sikelwa studied film and video at the Peninsula University of Technology. She has featured on the river as well as Isikizi.

Cohen plays the role of Jacob De Villiers, a businessman with a dark side. Noah, 31, is an American actor who has done various theatre work, including film. He holds a qualification in theatre and film production from the University of British Colombia and moved to South Africa in 2016.

Karabo Magongwa

Olwethu plays the role of Senzo Zwide. He is the youngest of the Zwide family and is highly mischievous. Senzo is a spoilt brat who uses drugs.
